If you want to relax or reduce stress, there are plenty of ways to do so. You can exercise, go to massage, walk in nature or try proven stress relief method: breathing.
For everyday living, there is nothing more important from breath, and we take it so many times for granted. If you cannot breathe, you cannot live. Moreover, it is free; you do not need to compete with anyone to get it and don’t need money to buy it because the system is already in you.
Personal growth techniques like meditation, hypnosis, can help you relax and reduce stress. To change existing patterns by breathing methods, you will need to engage a little willpower. Even your emotional states can be changed just by breathing because the breathing affects every system in your body.
People with regular practice of deep breathing can powerfully affect and reduce anxiety, depression, lower blood pressure, relax muscles, decrease feelings of overwhelming, etc..
We are breathing about 20,000 times a day. If your breath can change emotional and psychical reactions in the body, it means you have about 20 000 opportunities each day to change your perception and allow great thoughts to come into your mind and make miracles?
Of course, you can say, but I cannot force myself to breathe in a certain way so many times and all the day. That is right. You cannot because your body is in charge for breathing. But you can help your body to breathe naturally and slowly and in a way that is harmonious by everyday practice. You do not need to have special conditions or time.
No matter what you are doing, working, cooking, walking, you are breathing. So try as much as you can during all the day to breathe slowly. Just inhale and exhale slowly, be present. It is simple, and it needs to fit your body and not make additional stress. So, in this exercise, you do not need to hold your breath for certain seconds and nothing like that. These are special techniques for different conditions and intentions. Breathing is subconsciously regulated, controlled by the conscious mind. Also, your subconscious mind is a receptor, and it will pick up everything you regularly repeat. The point is to educate your subconscious mind by regular practice of slow breathing to adopt it as natural.
If you breathe naturally, exhalation is longer than inhalation. But it takes time for your body to get the rhythm. The best indicator you are reaching the natural state inside is your internal experience of pleasure, the state of feeling good and satisfying. That is the most natural and correct breath. And it is not complicated to get it. It is in you. Like everything else.
There are many ways to deal with stress, negative emotions, and all other medical problems. Changing the way you breathe is a good start. Try it, be consistent and share your experience.
